The River House is Kansas City’s (and America’s) first rivertop dining experience, set on the historic Rock Island Bridge. Suspended 60 feet above the Kansas River, this reimagined 1905 railroad landmark pairs sweeping river and skyline views with food, drinks, live entertainment, and a gathering place unlike anywhere else in the city.
Come early for lunch or a casual bite from Rock Island Eats, our walk-up window serving satisfying comfort food and refreshing drinks beginning at 11 a.m. Enjoy your order anywhere on the bridge while you explore, relax by the water, or meet up with friends.
Beginning at 3 p.m., River House offers full-service dining inspired by a “Midwest lake house meets coastal smokehouse.” Discover wood-fired favorites, fresh seafood, creative cocktails, and Signature Rituals created by some of Kansas City’s most celebrated culinary talent.
Whether you’re stopping in during a bike ride, gathering friends for dinner, celebrating a milestone, or planning a larger event, River House and the Rock Island Bridge offer an elevated Kansas City experience—in every sense of the word.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
A little planning goes a long way when your destination is 60 feet above the Kansas River.
Dress for the Weather
River House and the Rock Island Bridge offer an open-air experience above the river, so conditions can feel different from those on the ground. Dress for the day’s temperature, wind, and weather.
Covered areas, wind-blocking screens, and overhead heaters provide additional comfort when conditions are cool or unsettled. Severe weather may occasionally require temporary closures.
Accessibility
The bridge includes ADA-accessible entrances and pathways designed to make River House, Rock Island Eats, and the surrounding public areas accessible to all guests.
If you or a member of your group requires specific accommodations, please contact the bridge team before your visit so they can help you plan your experience.
Families & Pets
Families are welcome throughout the bridge. For safety, children ages 14 and younger must remain with a parent or guardian.
Leashed pets are welcome in the bridge’s public outdoor spaces, but they are not permitted inside River House. Outdoor seating and pet-waste stations are available.
Visiting the Bridge
Admission to the Rock Island Bridge is free during public hours. Enter from the east side near Hy-Vee Arena, with free parking along American Royal Drive and paid parking in the West Bottoms Garage.
